Bonilla Photography consists of us: Rachel and Nic Bonilla. We live and operate in beautiful Orange County,
California. We’ve both spent years studying and practicing photographic and digital processing techniques
that allow us to personally plan, photograph and process all of the pictures we produce for our clients. We
specialize in being able to capture photojournalistic, artistic, and traditional photographs all in the same day
of shooting.
This dedication to our craft and our clients is something we were both born with. We share a life-long love
of the power of images to inspire and communicate. There is nothing like bottling up pure human experience
and emotions. The feeling of the shutter snapping and knowing you’ve captured a moment of someone’s life
is a tremendous thrill. If it happens to be the most important moment of that person’s life: that’s all the more
exciting.

Our love for each other is intertwined with our love for the arts
of photography and filmmaking. We fell in love with each other
in movie theaters, on movie sets, doing photo shoots, and in long
conversations about the art and science of photography and
visual storytelling. The first time we ever cuddled was while
photographing an early morning surfing session. The beach was
cold, and (fortunately for us) there was only one blanket. That
was weeks before even our first date. Our shared passion was
already drawing us together.
Photographing professionally as a couple is dream come true for
us. Even before we were engaged and were both deathly afraid
to utter the “M” word, we shared a vision of Bonilla
Photography. It’s a true joy for us to work together. We
challenge and encourage each other in ways no one else could.
Also, we can communicate with an ease and familiarity that
comes only from years of mutual love and understanding.

This partnership is a huge value to our clients. They get two for
one. We charge a reasonable price and always shoot together.
Firstly: because we wouldn’t have it any other way, and secondly
because it allows greater and deeper coverage of the event. Rachel
can set up the big group shot while Nic can go off to the side and
catch the Bride and Groom stealing a kiss while their families grin in
the background. Rachel can shoot with a flash and freeze the action,
while Nic can shoot with a slow shutter and capture things in
motion. This advantage applies to all the events we shoot. Two
heads, and cameras, are always better than one.
Our love for photography permeates every facet of our lives. We
don’t go on vacations. Every time we travel and get outdoors (and
we do it as much as possible), it’s a photography expedition. We’ve
gained a lot of valuable experience doing landscape and travel
photography. Sharing passions the way we do helps us generate the
passion we have for each other. We are both people who get
pleasure from pulling the beauty out of the world around them and
sharing it with others. It’s something that drew us together and
keeps our love challenging and exciting.
